WHERE DO I APPLY FOR A VISA?

You have to complete an application form and submit it online or in person at a Norwegian embassy or consulate. You can find the application form: http://www.udi.no/Norwegian-Directorate-of-Immigration/Oversiktsider/Application-forms/Application-forms-for-visa/

WHEN DO I HAVE TO APPLY FOR A VISA?

We recommend that you apply for a visa as soon as possible. The process can be slow, and you should apply if you are considering attending ISES in Trondheim. If you do not have a visa close to the event, you will lose your spot.

WHAT MUST BE ATTACHED TO MY VISA APPLICATION?

  •  A passport photo that fulfills the specific requirements
  • Copy of all used pages in your passport
  • The official invitation letter from International Student Energy Summit
  • Valid travel and medical insurance - minimum coverage of 30 000€ (EURO)
  • Translation of your application/ documents to Norwegian or English if your information is in another language.
  • Case-process fee. You must pay a case-processing fee for your application. Some embassies have exemptions for students.

HOW DO I GET AN INVITATION LETTER FROM ISES?

To get your invitation letter, please to send an email to  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  marked “Visa invitation letter – (Your name)” containing the following two documents:

  • A photocopy of your passport
  • Proof of enrollment at an academic institution

Note: This letter does not guarantee you a bursary; it is an open invitation letter to help you with your visa application process.

WHAT TYPE OF VISA SHOULD I APPLY FOR?

WHO DOES NOT NEED A VISA?

Members of the Schengen countries can stay in Norway for 90 days without applying for a visa.  Exemption to the visa requirement also applies to nationals of countries that have visa exemption agreements with Norway. Nationals from countries with exemption agreements can stay in Norway for up to 90 days. Norway has visa exemption agreements with the following countries:

A: Andorra, Albania (holders of biometric passports), Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Austria

B: Bahamas, Barbados, Belgium, Bermuda (BDTC passport), Bosnia and Herzegovina (holders of biometric passports), Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria

C: Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic

D: Denmark

E: El Salvador, Estonia

F: Finland, France

G: Germany, Greece, Guatemala

H: Honduras, Hong Kong (SAR passports and BNO passports), Hungary

I: Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy

J: Japan

K: Republic of Korea

L: Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg

M: Macau (SAR passport), Macedonia (holders of biometric passports), Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro (holders of biometric passports) 

N: The Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua

P: Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal

R: Romania 

S: San Marino, Serbia (holders of biometric passports), the Seychelles, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, St. Kitts and Nevis, Sweden, Switzerland

T: Taiwan (holders of Taiwanese passports that contain an ID card number),

U: The UK, Uruguay, USA

V: The Vatican City State, Venezuela
